Three beautiful ladies, perfect lighting, a random sunflower field, and Lady Gaga jokes from a 4-year-old. Do photo shoots get more perfect??
Katie and I met a few years ago shortly after I moved to Colorado, and we had both recently started working at Colorado State University. We started off sharing an office together but over the next few years we ended up hanging out, hiking, and road tripping together! (Ok, and maybe a smidge of day drinking when we had a rare break from the kiddos.)
Katie's oldest daughter, Isabelle, is only 9 years old but is already way cooler than anybody I know. She somehow manages to put together the most stylish outfits, and she's also rocked a half shaved hairdo. ROCKED. IT. Not only is she incredibly smart and wise for her age, she also has the most beautiful self-confidence that is so rare to see in young women, or women of any age really. She's so sure of the person she is and wants to be, and I hope she never loses that, because she's pretty awesome.
Katie also likes to call Isabelle "Mother Hen," and for good reason: she's an amazing big sister to 4-year-old Hazel. Hazel's got this wild mane of beautiful brown curly hair and a personality to match it. Her smile and giggles are contagious, especially when she's making herself laugh at her own jokes. When she's not telling jokes or twirling around in her new dress, Hazel can be found playing like only a 4-year-old knows how to and proposing to her mom (yes, you read that right.)
These two sisters remind me of the quote: "You keep me safe, I'll keep you wild." With the kind of love and bond they so evidently have, combined with being fortunate enough to have a supermom like Katie, Hazel and Isabelle are a force to be reckoned with.
Those girls are truly so lucky to have you as their mom, Katie. And I'm so lucky I got to capture some sweet memories for yall!
